Howard Charles, Inc. is a premier manufacturers' representative organization in New York and New Jersey. Long time industry friends and associates, Howard Scheier and Charles Breslin, decided to combine their skills, contacts, goals and common work-ethic to service all stores in the territory. Already in its eighth year, Howard Charles, Inc. achieved increases with all of its manufactures, winning awards for achieving sales increases above its goal with every manufacturer.
Howard Scheier has a long history working with independent stores. He began his career with Kirby Block & Co., a New York City buying office for a nationwide network of independent stores, and later became its president and CEO. As the buying office industry began to falter, Howard relocated to Florida and began his 24-year tenure with Oneida Ltd. Due to his many honors and accomplishments while working with Oneida, Howard was transferred back to the NY region in 1997 to service major accounts like Bed Bath & Beyond and Fortunoff's as well as independent stores. In his last few years with Oneida, Howard was the #1 salesman achieving increases up to 20%.
Charlie Breslin began his career in consumer products at Bloomingdale's in 1990 in its training program. After holding positions in management and merchandising, the last as Tabletop Manager for 59th St., he became the National Sales Manager for Schott Zwiesel, a German crystal manufacturer. While at Schott Zwiesel, he was part of the team responsible for a complete turn around in sales and profit increasing above the 100th percentile. After Oneida’s takeover by Schott Zwiesel, Charlie spent three years with Oneida in product development and sales, becoming the National Sales Manager for Independent Accounts while overseeing the Federated account. In 2000, Charlie became the National Sales Manager for Rosenthal and achieved measurable growth in the independent store category while increasing penetration and sales in major accounts.
Howard and Charlie formed their company to represent a limited number of manufacturers in the field. To date, the distribution is such that they are servicing every type of tabletop, gift/stationery and housewares store in New York, New Jersey, and Eastern PA.
